We’re a group of friends/Chicago denizens who enjoy exploring our city’s development and lesser-known bits of history. Our intent is to provide a street-level focus on Chicago’s neighborhoods, particularly the more obscure ones.

I am a single surname genealogist and I study the Bohemian surname spelled KÁLAL, which has North American variants spelled KALAL and KALLAL. Charles W. Kallal was a first generation American; his father emigrated from Southern Bohemia. Charles is a distant relative of mine; we have traced his ancestry back to 1699 based on Czech archival records. Would be pleased to share the information that I have compiled for Charles.
